Why law firms use a client portal
- Share discovery documents and case files without a separate file sharing tool
- Get retainer agreements and engagement letters signed electronically
- Send invoices for billable hours or flat fee work and accept payment online
- Let prospective and current clients book a consultation on your calendar
- Keep each matter’s documents, forms, and messages together in one record
What clients see
Real screens from B12’s client engagement tools.

Case intake
Send a new client intake form once, and every response lands in your dashboard, organized by matter.

Retainer agreements
Upload the agreement, add a signer PIN for extra security, and send it out. Clients sign from any device.

Consultations
Let prospective and current clients book time directly, based on the availability you set.
Client confidentiality, built into the login
Keeping one client’s matter separate from every other client’s is a baseline requirement for a law firm, not a nice to have. B12 web apps use Supabase for authentication, so each client logs into their own account and only ever sees their own case, their own documents, and their own invoices. See a closer look at how that authentication works on B12’s main client portal page.
See how B12 handles client logins and permissionsWhat it costs
Client portal tools are included on B12’s Website + Client Engagement plan, starting at $67 a month billed annually. Unlike tools priced per user, that price covers your whole firm, whether you have one attorney or ten.

- Can each client only see their own case file?Yes. B12 web apps use Supabase for sign in and permissions, so each client’s account is tied to their own matter. A client can never browse into another client’s documents, invoices, or messages.
- Can clients sign a retainer agreement online?Yes. Upload the agreement as a PDF, send it for signature, and the client can sign from any device. The signed copy is stored with that client’s record.
- Does a client portal replace practice management software? Not entirely. B12 covers documents, invoicing, eSignature, and scheduling well, but it does not handle conflict checking or trust accounting. Many firms use both: B12 for the client facing side, and a practice management tool for internal matter tracking.
- How much does a client portal cost for a law firm?Client portal tools are included on B12’s Website + Client Engagement plan, starting at $67 a month billed annually. That price covers your whole firm, not each attorney or each client.
- Can I add a client portal to my firm’s existing website?Client portal tools are part of the B12 platform, so they work on any site B12 builds. If your firm’s site was built elsewhere, B12 can rebuild it as part of the same project so the portal has somewhere to live.
