How did you first learn about B12? What led you to select it as your website builder?

I was scrolling my Facebook and Instagram account and saw the advertisement. Initially, my biggest pain point was getting traction on my previous website. When I saw what B12 could do, we knew that we wanted to create our website with B12.

When did you first launch your business’s website, when did you launch your B12 website, and what impact did your B12 website have on your business’s performance?

Our website was launched in December 2018. I was always intimidated by what my perceived difficulty of building a website but my experience with B12 was pretty smooth, making appointments with my design consultant was easy and hassle-free, and the result was fantastic. I especially appreciate the quick response time to any request or changes I’ve sent to the B12 team, and I also like the flexibility and ability to design the website ourselves as well. Since building my website, I’ve received a significant increase in the number of page views and email requests from the page. We are planning to continue developing our online presence, especially since we are a nonprofit organization serving military veterans, and it’s important for us to have a strong way of being able to reach out to veterans around the world.

What’s one piece of advice you’d offer a business owner looking to launch a new website?

My advice would be to prepare and figure out what you need on your website ahead of time so that it’ll speed up the actual process of building your website. The growing online presence of businesses is getting increasingly important as more brick and mortar stores are closing down. In fact, in my current organization, 50% of the funds raised have been donated by veterans from out of state, and this is because of our stronger social media presence since coming to B12. I’m looking forward to growing my online business with different methods, and B12’s helped build an amazing foundation.

Tell us about your business. What made you start it, when did you start it, and what’s been your biggest achievement to date?

I am a veteran who has suffered from PTSD. It was often very challenging, as a result, for my wife to understand and communicate with me as she was unsure of the best ways to help me cope during that period. When I got better, I wanted to facilitate better communication methods between couples and families who have had similar experiences. This was why I started Heroes Homesteads.

The best achievement I’ve had thus far, was probably when I lived in Iraq for a year and raised a total of $35,000 to help veterans like myself. I’ve used that money to start this business and recently bought a farm. This farm expansion plan is now filled with livestock animals to provide a place of relaxation and stress-relief to veterans and their families. We also offer a place for childcare, organize events for holidays as well as agricultural activities like cherry picking to encourage family bonding time.

Grit and Grace started back in October 2017 as a part-time business offering video therapy for women in the working world. I was eager to focus my efforts on working with clients 100% of the time in a way that was most supportive and convenient to them.
